Information collected via the Internet

When you visit the Board's web site, the web server automatically collects a limited amount of information essential for the operation and security of our web site. Some of this information (i.e. browser type) does not identify who you are, whereas other information, such as your Internet domain name or IP address, may. You may wish to check with your Internet service provider (ISP) to ask about their policies and practices.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

The information collected when filing a Notice of Appeal with the Board is necessary to allow the Environmental Appeals Board to perform its function. The information is collected under the authority of Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, section 33(c). Section 33(c) provides that personal information may only be collected if that information relates directly to and is necessary for the processing of your appeal.

The Environmental Appeals Board does not collect information for commercial marketing.

Be aware that messages sent by the Internet (such as an e-mail) can be intercepted and read by others. If you are concerned about sending your personal information to us through the Internet, you can send your information via fax to (780) 427-4693. It is your responsibility to ensure that your information is received by the Board on time.
